Pomerol - 2022 Vintage

Lafleur Saint-Jean is located in the heart of Pomerol plateau. The cellar is located between two prestigious neighbours: Petrus and Lafleur Petrus. Lafleur Saint-Jean is produced from 3 plots all located on the highest terrace of Pomerol which covers only 80 hectares of the appellation.

Located on the most gravelly part up of the Pomerol plateau, the soil consists of fine red gravel for the first 50 cm, then of bigger rocks mixed with red clay. The sub-soil consists essentially of reddish crystals along with clay. Water runs 3 meters deep. It explains why vines are so deeply rooted as well as a natural drainage of water deep below. Therefore, not only vines do not suffer too much from droughts but produce excellent vintages.

The wine is not barrelled before November unlike many other Grands Crus who barrel their wine from malo-lactic fermentation; as a result, oak tannins are discreet. A beautiful garnet-red color, the wine offers a very exploding nose, with red fruits aromas. In mouth, the tannins are very supple, harmonious and well-balanced. Dark fruit, soft spices and a touch of wood develop step by step. The wine is elegant and offers immediate pleasure! It will match perfectly well grilled
