Bodega Monteviejo
In the foothills of the Andes
This winery produces unparalleled Argentinian wines in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. It’s close to Vista Flores, 80 km south of the city of Mendoza.
The vineyard is more than 100 hectares in sizes. However yields from the vineyard are kept purposefully low. Vines are vertically trained, planted at a density of 5,500 vines per hectare. This configuration corresponds to the region’s traditional method of planting old vine Malbec.
Glorious Argentinian wines
The wines are a true expression of their variety, with focus on the production of Malbec and Torrontés.
A strong vintage to draw from
The founder of the vineyard was Catherine Péré-Vergé. She was deeply involved in her family business Cristal D’arques International, one of the most important glass manufacturers in the world. This was created by her father.
She started to invest in the wine business in 1985, buying Château Montviel in Pomerol, France. In the 1990s Catherine also invested in Château La Gravière, Lalande de Pomerol and Chateau Le Gay in Pomerol.
At Bodega Moteviejo, Catherine cultivated the land to create wines to compete with the world’s best. She installed a state of the art winery to help with this ambition. After her passing in 2013, Henry Parent inherited the vineyard.
Expert help on hand
Catherine’s friend Michel Rolland is in charge of operations. He is the famous flying winemaker who made his fame as a consultant for boutique wineries around the world. Marcelo Peleritti manages the winery. All grapes are harvested by hand.
