Lirac - Domaine Clos De Sixte - Alain Jaume

Alain Jaume’s organic wine from Lirac is full of intense flavours. Ripe red cherry, blueberries and even hints of dark chocolate shine through. A full-bodied, elegant wine bursting with rich flavours. Lirac shares a similar terroir to Chateauneuf du Pape, an area this producer is renowned for making the highest quality wines.

The Lirac vineyard faces Châteauneuf du Pape, on the other side of the Rhône. As shown in the photo on the right and according to the geologist Georges Truc, the geology is comparable with that of the soils of Châteauneuf du Pape. These are terraces of quartz (rolled pebbles) and mixed red clay. Of alluvial origin and transported from the Alps several million years ago, these pebbles form a precious terrace for the production of great wines. This is a lesser-known appellation but with major geological advantages.
